Dr Emma Hollywell
I am a Counselling Psychologist working in private practice and as a Lecturer teaching the next generation of Psychologists on the City University of London Counselling Psychology doctoral programme and the BSc Psychology programme.
Before becoming a Psychologist I worked in a fast paced marketing firm as an Account Manager and witnessed first hand the impact stress can have on wellbeing in the workplace. I have worked with many individuals over the years supporting them to make positive changes in their lives from overcoming stress and anxiety to recovery from complex trauma and eating disorders.
I am also a qualified yoga teacher and am passionate about the link between mind and body and supporting people to think about their emotional wellbeing holistically. I offer wellbeing workshops, coaching and psychology sessions.
Areas of Expertise
Counselling, Psychological Therapy, EMDR Schema Therapy & Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
I have worked with many individuals over the years in the NHS and in private practice supporting them to make positive changes in their lives.
I provide an integrative approach to assessment and ongoing therapy and see people for short-term focussed interventions and longer-term therapy depending on their needs.
I'm a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. I adhere to the BPS and HCPC code of ethics and practice. As part of my professional development I attend regular clinical supervision and short courses.
For most people, taking the decision to speak to a psychologist is a big step, in some cases it may take someone years to finally decide to come to therapy. With all of the options out there, it can be difficult to know which kind of therapy would be helpful.
For this reason, we would usually begin by talking on the phone for a free initial 15 minute consultation. This would give you a chance to ask any questions you might have and I can get a sense of what you are needing help with.
The next step would be for us to schedule a time to meet. In the first few sessions we would sit down in an informal and relaxed way and I would invite you to tell me in detail about what is troubling you.
I practice at Stillpoint Spaces London, a 5 minute walk from Farringdon station and a 10 minute walk from Chancery Lane station. I also offer Skype Sessions.
Contact me at or fill out the enquiry form below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
